A perfect riverside wedding… on a Monday!

When it came to planning their weekday wedding, Denae and DJ made all the right decisions.

For the venue itself, this couple chose the elegant Nedlands Yacht Club, with its uninterrupted views of the Swan River and lush, grassy ceremony area.

They kept the décor simple, something I highly recommend when in a picturesque location. I mean, why block such a fabulous view with a backdrop or arbour? It also meant that the famous afternoon south-westerly breeze was much easier to manage, without having to worry about hire items being literally carried away in the wind. Just the confetti, which looked AWESOME!

Speaking of the wind, this is where it’s good to have an experienced team. The crew at Nedlands Yacht Club worked to orient the ceremony set up so that our happy couple were facing into the wind, rather than against it.

I did the same when planning my audio setup. The wind can be a huge asset when it comes to sound! With the right microphone covers to soften wind noise, and thoughtful placement of the PA system, the sound was carried across the guests, without me having to max out the dials.

It meant that the father of the groom could be heard loud and clear, as he delivered this hand-picked reading by Cheryl Barclay:

When the one whose hand you’re holding
Is the one who holds your heart.
When the one whose eyes you gaze into
Gives your hopes and dreams their start.
When the one you think of first and last
Is the one who holds you tight.
And the things you plan together
Make the whole world seem just right.
When the one whom you believe in
Puts their faith and trust in you.
You’ve found the one and only love
You’ll share your whole life through.

By choosing to have a Monday wedding, DJ and Denae were able to secure their first choice of wedding professionals in peak wedding season, while also not having to worry about increased costs on weekends! Plus, venues with other primary functions (such as golf clubs, yacht clubs and sports clubs) sometimes offer special pricing for weekday or off-peak functions, so it’s worth making an enquiry if you’re trying to get the most bang for your buck.

Which then means, you can invest in a fantastic photographer! Naz from Manis Moments delivered spectacularly in the mid-afternoon sun, and kept capturing the smiles all the way past sunset.

Here’s what Denae and Daniel had to say, reflecting on their wedding day:

“Candice was so easy and pleasant to deal with. She was always available to help us in any way we needed. Our ceremony was so personalised and special and we are so happy with how everything played out.”
