How to score the best deals at the Swan Valley Wedding Open Day
Whenever I hear about a couple booking The Novotel Vines Resort Swan Valley for their wedding, I can’t help but smile, because I know they’re going to get some of the best customer service in Perth’s wedding industry.
Delivering an epic experience for a wedding is a team effort, but the resort’s in-house coordinators Jenny Petzer and Jodie Murphy are truly phenomenal. They just… make things happen.
So, in the lead up to the next Swan Valley Wedding Open Day on 2 July 2023, I asked the dream team for a few tips to help you get the most out of the expo!
Everybody loves a bargain - do you have any advice for couples when it comes to respectfully enquiring about deals, promotions, or working within a set budget?
The best time to enquire regarding deals, promotions and specials is at wedding open days. Lots of venues often have incentives for couples who book and pay their deposits at the open days - it’s a great way to get some extra bang for your buck! At The Vines Resort we have great Summer and Winter Specials for 2024 offering something extra at a great price. Working within a set budget, focus on what is important to you and to have at your wedding. For styling and decorating purposes, I think less is more and simplicity is key. You can never go wrong with lots of beautiful candles and fresh greenery.
What do you think is the standout attraction about having a wedding at The Vines?
The Vines Resort is a destination in itself, with fantastic Ceremony and Reception spaces. We have accommodation on-site, along with restaurants, a spa, hair dressing salon and a gym. Of course, we also have the magnificent golf course… or mini golf if that’s more your speed!
For people who haven't been to an open day before, how do you suggest they tackle it? Any particular locations first?
Choose 3 to 4 venues that have caught your eye and spend quality time at these venues, meeting the staff and suppliers. Collect marketing material and information about packages to go through at home. Then, follow up and book in site visits with the venues that interested you the most.
You and the team really take the stress out of wedding planning by offering a list of recommended suppliers - how do you choose who makes it onto that list?
Our recommended suppliers are businesses that we have built a rapport with over the years - people that deliver a great service, who are reliable, passionate and we can trust wholeheartedly. All are suppliers who put our couple’s vision first.
For those currently venue hunting, what questions should they ask? Is there anything they should be looking for, or be mindful of?
Ask about any surcharges on Public Holidays! Accommodation often needs to be booked for a minimum of two nights on long weekends, so that’s worth clarifying. Check regarding accommodation availability for your wedding date if you think many of your guests will need or want to stay over. You’ll also want to ask about back up plans for inclement weather, especially for outdoor ceremonies.
How far out should couples be looking to secure their venue? Does it depend on the time of year, or day of the week?
Saturdays are always the most popular wedding day, so if you are date specific, then allow yourself at least a year or more to secure your date. If you are flexible with the date, then a shorter lead time is fine. Remember, that the wedding paperwork (the Notice of Intended Marriage) has to be lodged with a celebrant at least a month prior.
