What is a Content Creator (and should you get one for your wedding)?
One of the hottest emerging trends this wedding season is content creation. Harnessing the immediacy of social media, Content Creators are being hired in addition to photographers and videographers to produce high quality video snippets with a super-quick turnaround, so you can make your wedding announcement in style!
But what is it all about? How does it work? And, the burning question, how much does it cost?
Imogen Blow is one of the first to offer this kind of service in Perth, through her small business Candid Content Crew. You can check out her website (with its transparent pricing), and read the results of our fun chat below!
1. How does wedding content creation work? How does it differ from the style of videography we usually see at weddings?
As a former wedding videographer I saw beautiful personal moments vanish when a large camera came out. Videographers provide GORGEOUS five minute polished videos, but don't include the raw footage with bloopers and fun moments on the day that make a couple's day unique.
Our team's on a mission to bring more authenticity to the world through content creation. To do this we use wedding content creation to capture the special and unfiltered moments that make your wedding day uniquely yours. By taking a bestie POV, we can discreetly capture the intimate, fun and funny behind the scenes moments that aren’t captured by your professional wedding photographer or videographer.
We’ll capture hundreds of touching moments throughout your wedding day with either a phone or camera depending on your preference. You’ll receive hundreds of short-form videos and photos from throughout the day before your head hits the pillow, ready to be sent and shared when you wake up.
2. What three words would you use to describe your videography style?
Authentic, fun, warm
3. What inspired you to start offering this service?
Growing up, I've never had a great memory so I was always the kid that videoed everything, interviewed her friends and really just wanted to capture everything knowing that one day the memories would fade. I want to capture the special moments in my life so when I was 80, I could look back and think "wow I lived a great life".
Weddings bring so many special moments with you and your partner, but also by having all your loved ones in one place. There is so much planning, but the day goes so quickly, so I wanted to help couples remember the day. I used to be a videographer, but found our big cameras would stifle the candid moments, and I REALLY wanted to savour them! Videographers provide a beautiful five minute video at the end but don't include all the raw footage from the day (like bloopers, fun, funny and intimate moments). So I decided to bring a more discreet camera, and give couples 100s of clips from throughout the day that capture the true essence of their special day.
4. Describe your ideal wedding client.
A lot of people think our Wedding Content Creation service is for social media savvy couples only. I actually designed the service for capturing the fastest moving day in someone's life, as a way to authentically look back at the moments. Our favourite couples to work with are couples who understand the value of externalising memories, and want themselves & their bridal party to live wholeheartedly on the day, phone free. Also couples with overseas family, as we deliver all the content before the next day so they can send it globally the very next day.
5. You've travelled fairly extensively - whereabouts in WA do you think would make the most epic location for a wedding or elopement?
I haven't had a wedding here yet, so if there are any couples who are getting hitched up here... I'm so there!! Broome is a gorgeous place, with incredible terrain and vibes. A wedding here would be so much fun. In saying this, a douth wedding along the beautiful Cape Naturaliste is pretty gorgeous too.
